Burst internal pipes
No hot water
Taps that will not shut off
Gas leaks
Blocked toilets
For any issues where you have water leaking from a burst pipe, a tap that will not shut off etc. the best thing you can do is to locate your water meter and shut off the water supply. This will generally be at the front of your property near the front fence. In an older style apartment you may need to follow the copper pipes on the external wall of your unit down to a valve. New apartments will generally have a cupboard with water meters, you may need to call your building manager to obtain access.

Zack Tip 2
Turn the tap handle to the right as far as you can go. Turn on a hose tap to relieve pressure in the system.
Zack Tip 3
If you can smell gas then you should shut your gas meter off immediately. Your gas meter will generally be located near the front of your house, it will have a handle on the incoming pipe, turn this handle so that it runs 90 degrees to the pipe.
